A walking safari in the Kruger Park is a special experience, offering the opportunity to get up close to many of the smaller wonders of the African bush.

Walking safaris are specialised and there are a limited number of options in the Kruger National Park, however these offer outstanding experiences. Many lodges offer a short walk in addition to their game drives, these are not however the same as a fully fledge walking safari.

On a walking safari you will be accompanied by highly trained and specialised guides. The guide will lead you through the bush and explain in details many of the wonders of the hidden bush, as well as the occasional member of the big 5. Guides are armed with rifles for your protection.

The walks are generally between 3 and 4 hours and at a pace suited to the group.

The walking safaris are conducted in the morning and both Africa on Foot and Rhino Walking safari offer afternoon game drives to complement the walking safaris in the morning.
